Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who works as a nurse
along with Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver and furniture mover.
She is of English, Welsh, Irish, and Scottish heritage. Rachel started acting
at thirteen. She was already performing in Shakespearean productions at summer
theater camp. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in
Theater. After her role in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998) and
later, she appeared in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama that
chronicles the struggles and triumphs of a Shakespearean theatre group. In
2003, she was awarded the Gemini award. Her role as Regina George, in Mean
Girls (2004) immediately became a top-rated actress on Hollywood's most
sought-after young actors. After that film she was paired with Ryan Gosling in
The Notebook (2004). The Notebook was a big hit in the box office and was soon
the top romantic drama for a younger generation of moviegoers. McAdams had a
meeting with Gosling while filming. They were a couple until the middle of
2007. McAdams and Gosling were engaged and began to get married. After starring
in The Lucky Ones, a military drama State of Play, and The Time Traveler's Wife
(2009) McAdams starred alongside Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy
Ritchie's blockbuster international Sherlock Holmes. McAdams was the shrewd
producer for Morning Glory (2010). She also played the materialistic fiancee
Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams returned to
romantic drama with The Vow (2012), where she played opposite Channing Tatum.
McAdams is also a part of Terrence Malick in To the Wonder (2012), and Noomi
Rapace is Passion (2012) in Brian De Palma's film thriller.
